WA Supreme Court strikes down $30 car tabs

Washington Car Tabs License Plate

The Washington Supreme Court has struck down I-976, the $30 car tabs bill, that would have saved you a ton of cash once a year when you register in the Puget Sound region. The court deemed it unconstitutional saying that it contains "more than one subject, and its subject is not accurately expressed in its title."

This sucks having just bought a new car in February, but I can't imagine how screwed we would have been long term as a community. Since car tabs pay for the road projects around the state, where would that money have come from had this passed? The people who put this bill together that didn't write it correctly must feel so embarrassed to have screwed this up and having failed the 53% of people who voted "yes" for the initiative last November.
