For those unaware, the '90s ruled. Not only did Alternative music blossom and grow into its own, but a whole bunch of steamy relationships between different band members from across the genre did as well.
Just to name a few, there were Blur's Damon Albarn and Elastica's Justine Frischmann; Gwen Stefani and Tony Kanal of No Doubt, and of course Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and Veruca Salt singer Louise Post. Most of these affairs eventually imploded, either publicly or privately (apparently Dave and Louise split after Grohl cheated with actress Winona Ryder), but we're still being given glimpses into their inner workings here and there. The latest comes from the "Seether" herself, Louise, who shared a clip of her singing backing vocals on the Foos' massive hit "Everlong."

Sharing an isolated, lo-fi clip of her own harmonies on a demo of Foo Fighters' 1997 The Colour and the Shape track "Everlong" on Veruca Salt's Instagram page, Louise explained how she "sang these back-ups over the phone at 2am after being woken up from a deep sleep in Chicago by DG [Dave Grohl] who was tracking the vocals for 'Everlong' in LA. He wanted me to sing the doo-doo’s, which were inspired by our song 'Shimmer Like a Girl.'"
The track Post mentioned, "Shimmer Like A Girl", is off of the band's Steve Albini-produced 1996 EP Blow It Out Your Ass It's Veruca Salt, which sits comfortably in between their beloved first and second albums American Thighs and Eight Arms to Hold You -- arguably some of the group's best and heaviest work.
"While I was at it," Louise continues in her post, "I wrote a harmony for the chorus and sang that too. The whispered section of this song was originally the dream I was having when the phone rang. It was a dream about us. He later removed it and replaced with his own whispers, one which was a love letter to me. Maybe I’ll tell the full story...eventually...if I feel like it. But I just came across this post and thought I would share for anyone who is interested."
Consider us interested... Share that letter, Louise!
