Drew Brees will be back in the Superdome this Thanksgiving.
The New Orleans Saints announced that they will honor the former quarterback at halftime of the Thursday night Thanksgiving game against the Buffalo Bills next week, which Brees will be calling alongside Mike Tirico for NBC.
It will be the first time Brees will be back at the Superdome since his final game back in January. The ceremony is meant to give the quarterback a proper sendoff in front of a sellout crowd, which he did not get last season due to COVID.
“Drew Brees will always be considered one of the greatest Saints in the history of the organization,” owner Gayle Benson said in a statement. “While we look forward to one day welcoming Drew back as a Hall of Famer and a member of our Ring of Honor, Thanksgiving night is the perfect opportunity for us to say thank you to Drew and his family he right way — on the field and in front of 70,000 of the best fans in football."

Fans in attendance will also receive a “Thank You Drew” rally towel and are encouraged to submit “thank you” video messages that have the chance to be played throughout the game and on the Saints’ social media.
The 50/50 raffle will also donate funds to the Brees Dream Foundation with the Gayle and Tom Benson Foundation matching the donation.
“My family and I are forever grateful for all the incredible moments we shared together with the city of New Orleans and Who Dat Nation,” Brees said. "What an incredible moment it will be, back in the Dome with the greatest fans in the world."
Brees, 42, has worked as a studio analyst this season for NBC’s Football Night in America on Sunday nights.
The Brees and Tirico booth could be a preview of the future of the Sunday Night Football broadcast. Current play-by-play voice Al Michaels’ contract expires at the end of the year and is reportedly sought by Amazon to call the Thursday Night Football games next season.
