Economist Says Jersey Shore Must Open by May 15
Dom Giordano talks with Dr. Michael Busler, Professor of Finance at Stockton University, about the need to reopen the Jersey Shore by May 15. Busler explains the economic consequences that could happen if the shore opens too late, as well as the health issues that could arise if opened too early. Busler talks about how COVID-19 has affected New Jersey, pointing out that the majority of cases and fatalities have been in North Jersey, with less severity in the southern part of the state. Busler explains when the "Jersey Shore" season begins, pointing out that they have missed out on all of Easter and April. Busler also explains why May 15 is the date to aim for. Because it is the weekend before Memorial Day, it will give the beaches, casinos, and other businesses reopen. Busler points out how the casinos and smaller businesses will lose a lot of revenue if not opened for Memorial Day. Plus, Busler talks about the foreign students hired by Morey's Pier and the financial issues that will arise if they have to hire Americans.

Dom talks about an article on how COVID-19 burst the college education bubble and compares it to the housing and dot-com bubbles. Dom talks about the challenges faced with price gauging of chicken and also gets into the Taylor Ham/Pork Roll debate. Dom addresses Phil Murphy's complaints about the celebration of Memorial Day, disagreeing on Murphy's view that the holiday should be nothing more than a solemn day.
