Dom takes a moment to honor the officer who lost his life, Eric Talley, who gave his life to help save others after responding to the shooting. Then, Giordano turns this into a discussion about a newly passed bill in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, HB103, which would protect police from assault from bodily fluids. Dom wonders why that, although the bill passed, over 50 representatives voted against something that seems as though it should already be in law. McFarland expounds on the piece, explaining that the Chinese government has been playing a game that Americans have largely ignored, gaining a huge head start in what she considers an economic and technological arms race. In the piece, McFarland writes, “Like the Soviet Union after World War II, China believes it is destined to rule the world.” McFarland further explains what China has done to gain a foothold in the race, and discusses individual tentacles touching all aspects of American life.
