Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer Announces Retirement

Today, Dom Giordano led off the Dom Giordano Program by discussing a comment made by President Biden’s Deputy National Security Advisor Jon Finer, who in regards to Ukraine, spoke of the importance of respecting countries borders. Dom takes a minute to discuss the irony of this comment coming from the Biden administration, telling of their lack of transparency and care of what’s happening down at our southern border. Then, Producer Dan breaks news to Dom that Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer had announced that he will be retiring from the Supreme Court at the end of the term, opening the door for the Biden administration to name a new liberal justice. Giordano and Dan spend time taking calls and discussing potential replacements, discussing in-depth one particular local candidate that could both save the city but ruin the country.

Then, KT McFarland, former deputy National Security Advisor under President Donald Trump, returns to the show for an in-depth discussion on the situation evolving in Ukraine, after President Biden gaffed his way through a press conference last week, green-lighting a potential Russian invasion. First, Giordano asks KT to put on her old hat, asking if she were sitting in the room with President Biden, how she would approach the issue. Then, KT tells of the genesis of the downfall in Ukraine/Russia relations, explaining that the press conference last week was a catalyst, but there have been many prior events that have led us to the place we find ourselves. In addition, KT offers other potential solutions for the conflict, and tells why she thinks sanctions do not work.

Perkiomen School District Waffles Again On Mask Mandate

In today’s second hour, Giordano leads off by continuing the discussion centered around the news of Justice Stephen Breyer’s impending retirement, with Giordano telling what this means for the political scene. Then, Giordano circles back to local issues, telling of another shift in the Perkiomen School District back to mandatory masking, telling of the back and forth that has persisted in the local school district for months. Then, Giordano plays back a clip from actor Michael Rapaport’s TikTok, in which the comedian confronted a person casually shoplifting from a New York City Rite Aid.

Then, Wendell Young IV, president of United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 1776, returns to the Dom Giordano Program for a debate centered on a proposed constitutional amendment that would eliminate the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. First, Young, who supports the PLCB, contextualizes the fight over the board through his point of view, telling of past efforts to remove the institution. Then, Giordano and Young enter into a debate over the constitutionality of such a board, with Young justifying the presence of a board overseeing what Dom argues should be a free market.

Bill McSwain on Breyer, School Choice, and Impeachment of DA Larry Krasner

To lead off today’s final hour, Giordano welcomes back Pennsylvania gubernatorial candidate Bill McSwain, former United States Attorney, to discuss multiple issues playing out both locally and nationally.
First, Giordano asks for McSwain’s thoughts on the retirement of Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer, with McSwain explaining how he thinks things will shake out. Then, Giordano and McSwain move into a conversation centered on schools, discussing a controversy in York County over a school board member’s insults levied toward parents, with McSwain telling why this further solidifies the need for school choice in the State. Finally, McSwain offers his opinion on a potential impeachment of Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner, and offers up what he would do as Governor to prevent another District Attorney from leading the city down a similar path. In addition, Giordano spends the remainder of the hour discussing the news surrounding Breyer’s retirement, and previews what topics will arise in a hearing process and the following midterm vote.
