Attorney George Bochetto on Court Decision to Allow Columbus Statue to Remain at Marconi Plaza

George Bochetto, attorney powerhouse in Philadelphia, rejoins the Dom Giordano Program for an update on the fight for the Christopher Columbus statue to remain in South Philadelphia. Yesterday, in a seven-page decision, a Philadelphia judge shot down the City’s push to remove the statue, writing “It is baffling to this Court as to how the City of Philadelphia wants to remove the Statue without any legal basis.” Bochetto brings us in the back-and-forth with the city and legal system that has led us to this point. Bochetto tells what he hopes to see at the Columbus statue site to protect it from potential vandalism. Finally, Bochetto and Giordano discuss the future of another controversial Philadelphia statue, that being of Frank Rizzo, which the city removed from the steps of City Hall.

St. Joseph’s University Alumni to Withhold Donations over Infusion of ‘Wokeism’

Jim Henwood, a former police officer for over 30 years, joins the Dom Giordano Program to discuss why he and many alumni have bonded together to withhold their donations from St. Joseph’s University. Henwood explains that this all began after the firing of Gregory Manco, an assistant math professor and assistant baseball coach, after he retweeted posts anonymously that spoke against reparations for slavery, and race and bias training. In a letter written to university leaders at an alumni luncheon, Henwood and six other wrote of “the creeping illness that seems to be taking over the college where we learned important Jesuit values of being men for others.” Henwood openly refers to the university moving in a direction toward ‘wokeism,’ and explains why that as an issue for him and others, and tells why he and the other alumni are against the overbearing nature of such a movement. Also, Henwood tells what he’d like to see from the University to remediate the situation involving Mr. Manco.

Stanford University’s Dr. Jay on the Gov. Desantis’s Handling of Coronavirus

Dr. Jayanta Bhattacharya, Professor of Medicine at Stanford University, joins the Dom Giordano Program to discuss his time spent advising Florida Governor Ron DeSantis throughout the Coronavirus pandemic. Dr. Jay explains why DeSantis has repeatedly made national headlines for standing strongest against overbearing pandemic edicts, taking us inside the decision-making by the Governor. Then, Dr. Jay tells us how DeSantis came to the decision to clear nursing homes of Coronavirus patients, particularly when the opposite decision was being made on a widespread basis by governors in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Also, Dr. Jay gives his thoughts on current debates surrounding the virus, including the necessity of masking, and tells what he hopes to do moving forward to both ensure public safety while addressing how far to push our freedoms.
