Lori Won’t Send Her 18-Year Old To War, Would You?
Today, Dom led off the Dom Giordano Program by continuing the discussion centered on strategizing the United States response to Putin’s continued invasion into Ukraine. First, Giordano plays back a clip from CNN’s Jim Sciutto, who suggests to a Congressman that we should be shooting Russian planes down over Ukraine, which Dom takes umbrage with. Dom explains why he’s against ramping up the war, playing back a clip from yesterday’s show a call from Lori of Ringoes, who through broken speech, said she would never allow her 18-year old to fight in this war.
Then, Linda Stein, editor at the Delaware Valley Journal, joins the Dom Giordano Program to discuss an article she penned for the paper, highlighting a whistleblower teacher who came forward to expose a push by a local school district to hide information from parents. According to Stein and the whistleblower, if you are a parent of a child questioning their gender identity in the Great Valley School District in Delaware Valley, their teacher is not allowed to tell you. Stein uncovered that under district policy, teachers are required to keep information on gender identity secret from parents. Linda reveals conversations she shared with the whistleblower, and Giordano and producer Dan discuss the negative implications of such an edict.
Angelo Cataldi on Ben Simmons, the MLB, and the Carson Wentz Trade
In today’s second hour, Giordano welcomes back in Sports Radio 94WIP Morning Show Host Angelo Cataldi to discuss the return of Ben Simmons to Philadelphia in yesterday’s Sixers loss against the Brooklyn Nets. First, Giordano asks Angelo why he believes tickets were at their highest secondary market price of the past decade, with Angelo telling that ‘revenge’ drove the prices, with Philadelphians wanting to be in person to boo Ben Simmons. Then, Giordano gets Cataldi’s thoughts on the end of the MLB lockout, as both the players and owners came to an agreement that will push back the start of the baseball season, but allow for the season to take place in full. Finally, Cataldi offers his opinion on the Eagles quarterback situation, and tells whether or not Dom should publicly throw his 40 yard football throw.
Then, Giordano spends the majority of the rest of the hour talking about the push in New Jersey by local lawmakers to allow self-service at gas stations. For the majority of Dom’s time spent doing radio, both Republicans and Democrats from NJ were generally against the end of gas attendants, but the tide has seemingly changed. Giordano asks listeners if their mind has changed and if they’re open to self-service.
After that, Lou Gaul returns to the Dom Giordano Program to take us to the movies. First, Lou and Giordano discuss the success of the new Batman film, telling that he very much enjoyed the new film, and reveals the ridiculous box office numbers. Then, in honor of the upcoming 50th anniversary of The Godfather, Giordano and Gaul reflect upon the time they both first saw the Godfather movies, with Lou Gaul telling of a trip he took up to New York for the premiere of the debut film. Then, Gaul tells of an interview he held with Robert Duvall, with the actor being upset over his pay for the films. Finally, Lou Gaul tells which movies to watch at next week’s Oscars, telling of Power of the Dog, the West Side Story, and Will Smith’s King Richard.
NJ Lawmakers Consider Self-Service Gasoline, Where Do You Stand?
In today’s final hour, Dom leads off the Dom Giordano Program by welcoming back in New Jersey State Senator Declan O’Scanlon to discuss his push to allow self-service at gas stations within New Jersey.
For a long time, New Jersey residents have responded with vitriol when this suggestion has been made, but recently it seems the tides have turned as the pandemic has created a labor shortage, causing closed pumps and long lines for those waiting to have their gas pumped. O’Scanlon explains why he’s pushing for the change, and explains why there has been a change of opinion by New Jerseyians. Also, O’Scanlon tells Giordano how he would suggest he appropriately celebrate the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day.
