Is New Variant Omicron A Cause For Concern?
Today, Dom leads off the Dom Giordano Program by discussing the continued rash of crime that we’ve seen unfold here in Philadelphia this weekend before jumping into national politics, discussing the heightened concern surrounding the new Omicron variant of Coronavirus. Giordano previews and recaps a Joe Biden press conference in which he addressed said concern, playing back clips of the President who noted that we need to approach this with concern rather than panic. Then, Giordano plays back clips from Anthony Fauci over the weekend, who laughed when pressed on investigations concerning the origin of the virus. Then, Tony Kinnett returns to the Dom Giordano Program. Mr. Kinnett, Executive Director of Chalkboard Review, is a science curriculum consultant in the Indianapolis Public School system who received a suspension after calling attention to the seeping of Critical Race Theory into Indianapolis public curriculum. Kinnett explains the situation that got him into hot water with his bosses, explaining the radical political stances of administrators openly propagated by the school district. Then, Kinnett updates the audience as to whether he expects to get his job back, and tells the legal course he plans to pursue if he is not reinstated.
Dom's 2021 National Person of the Year... Mike Rowe!
To lead of today’s second hour, Dom announces his 2021 National Person of the Year, Mr. Mike Rowe. Dom explains that he chose Mike because of his continued diligence in promoting the value of hard work through blue-collar work. Rowe joins the Dom Giordano Program to receive the recognition, and tells why he continues to hone in on the importance of hard work. Rowe tells us about his mikeroweWORKS Foundation, which awards a scholarship to students who understand the importance of work ethic, personal responsibility, delayed gratification, and a positive attitude. Rowe gives his thoughts on the changing dynamic about workers vs. employers, and offers his opinion as to how we can further raise awareness and appropriately recognize those who do society’s tough work. For more from Mike, go to mikeroweWORKS.org.
Then, Ray Didinger, famed broadcaster and Philadelphia sportswriter, rejoins the Dom Giordano Program to break down the Eagles abysmal performance yesterday against the New York Giants. After a low scoring defensive affair that played out mostly on the ground, the Eagles fell short after a Jalen Reagor drop that would’ve sealed the win for the Eagles in a last-minute drive. First, Giordano and Didinger discuss the chances for a potential playoff berth, something that seemed attainable prior to the weekend. Then, Giordano and Didinger discuss the value of Center Jason Kelce, who Didinger thinks is the most valuable player on the entire roster, as proven by the decrease in efficiency after a short injury during the Giants game.
Woodrow Wilson School Renamed, and Giordano Supports It?
In today’s third hour, Dom leads off by offering his support for the decision by the city of Camden to rename the Woodrow Wilson school.
Giordano notes that this is indeed a departure from his usual stance on re-naming statues and buildings, but explains that, in this case, he supports the decision to move away from Wilson. Then, Dom plays his Money Melody for the day, today for a $25 gift card to Boston Market. After that, Steve Feldman, head of the Philadelphia chapter of Zionists of America, rejoins the Dom Giordano Program to reveal a small factoid about Mayor Kenney. After Mayor Kenney’s standing in solitary with Palestine, Philadelphia becomes only the 4th American city in which leadership has supported the country at war with Israel.
