Dom Giordano, WPHT host and former teacher, has dedicated much of his daily show toward parents who are taking it into their own hands to push back against school boards that have a negative impact on their children. This has culminated in a weekly podcast on education, Readin', Writin', and Reason, which has allowed wonderful relationships to develop between Giordano, educators, and parents throughout the country who are speaking out against overbearing school boards.
This week, Dom is first joined by Pennsylvania gubernatorial candidate Bill McSwain. McSwain and Giordano discussed an education reform proposed by McSwain in his lead up to his gubernatorial race. In his “Pillars for Educational Reform,” McSwain made a pledge to never accept money from teachers’ unions, enact a Parents Bill of Rights, and offer educational opportunities for all students through school choice. In addition, McSwain lays forth what’s written into his Parents Bill of Rights, which lays forth the restoration of parental rights, including the right to an in-person education, the right to know which curriculum is being taught, and the right to have your child educated without political biases.
Then, Pennsylvania State Senator Jake Corman returns to the pordcast to update a lawsuit that he and other parents filed suit against the state of Pennsylvania concerning a mandate that requires masking in all schools within the Commonwealth. Corman announces that he and the other parents have won their suit in the Supreme Court, and tells what this means going forward for parents in the State. Also, Corman offers his thoughts on Gov. Wolf’s ruling throughout the pandemic, and tells what’s coming up for the state legislature moving forward.
