President and CEO of the Pennsylvania Family Institute, Michael Geer, joined Rich Zeoli on 1210 TalkRadio 1210 WPHT to discuss YouTube deciding to remove their gubernatorial debate last week and their successful appeal to have the debate reposted on the platform.
“We got a notice from YouTube on Sunday morning, a simple email, from YouTube saying that the recorded content of that forum, the two hours, somehow violated their policy on misinformation and they had sort of an obscure statement about somehow it violated it because they don’t allow discussion on the 2020 election.”
Geer continued, “I’m not even sure that was the real reason but they offered no detail so it was taken down.”
Geer told Zeoli they were offered the opportunity to appeal the decision to remove the debate from the website, via a letter consisting of only 800 characters.
“I wrote a 800 character appeal which is about one [to] one and half paragraphs and breaking news this morning we got word late yesterday afternoon, late yesterday evening, we got an email from YouTube saying ‘hey, we made a mistake and we put it back up.’ We don’t know why they took it down or put it back up.”

Geer continued, “it doesn’t change my disgust and shock really that YouTube has this capability of just simply stopping debate or stopping the ability for voters to hear what candidates have to say.”
It is another example of big tech’s abuse of free speech to censor ideas and thoughts that they disagree with.
“The main reason why we have the first amendment dealing with free speech is an understanding that if we don’t have free speech, we can’t have a legitimate democracy.
Geer concluded, “that’s the beginning of the end of freedom and it’s scary to see big tech doing this.”
