Ever since former President Donald Trump was impeached (twice) during his tenure in the White House, Republicans in Congress have continued to make public comments about wanting to impeach his successor, hoping they would find some illegal dealings by President Joe Biden.

This week, House Republicans launched an impeachment inquiry into Biden, who they have accused of using his political influence to aid his son Hunter in his business dealings.

The younger Biden is being investigated by the Department of Justice, but so far, no evidence has been presented publicly that points towards the current Commander-in-Chief.

After learning that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy had relented under the pressure of the far-right members of his party and ordered the inquiry, Biden’s administration called the move a “political stunt.”

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said that Republicans have yet to produce any evidence that President Biden was involved in his son’s private sector business deals.

Meanwhile, in his most recent comments on the matter, President Biden himself said, as far as he can tell, Republicans are looking for an excuse not to work.

“I don't know quite why, but they just knew they wanted to impeach me,” Biden told donors at a fundraiser in Virginia. “Now, the best I can tell, they want to impeach me because they want to shut down the government.”
