(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is trying to educate travelers after an incident that occurred in Wisconsin.

The TSA for the Great Lakes Region, said on Twitter, “A dog was accidentally sent through the X-ray machine at the Dane County Regional Airport in Madison.

The dog was in a closed backpack.

Airport X-ray machines, it should be noted, do not emit harmful amounts of radiation.

This kind of thing has happened elsewhere.

The TSA post said, "When traveling with any animal, notify your airline [and] know their rules."

"At the checkpoint, remove your pet from the bag and send all items, including the empty carrier to be screened in the machine," the TSA said.
