Marty Griffin breaks Musk surgery in Pittsburgh story
KDKA Radio’s Marty Griffin says Elon Musk underwent spinal fusion surgery at UPMC Presbyterian.
Musk, the owner of SpaceX, Tesla, “X” (formally Twitter) and current co-head of the newly created Department of Government Efficiency for President-elect Donald Trump had the surgery this past weekend.
Griffin says Musk few into Pittsburgh in a private jet and checked into UPMC Presbyterian under the name “ER Musk”. (Elon Reeve Musk) for the difficult surgery.
The surgery reportedly went well and he left the Pittsburgh area on Sunday.
Officially, UPMC told Griffin "no comment" due to privacy issues.
A book about Musk claims the entrepreneur injured his neck and back trying to perform a “judo throw” on a over 350-pound sumo wrestler during a birthday party in 2013.
Since then, Musk has reportedly dealt with chronic neck and back pain.
Griffin says the surgeon that operated on Musk is the same that treated Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier after he suffered a serious back injury in December 2017.
It was feared that Shazier would never be able to walk again, but has since made great strides in his recovery.
