A FedEx-operated plane skidded off the end of a runway at an airport in Chattanooga, Tennessee, late on Wednesday after suffering landing gear failure, officials shared.
The Chattanooga Fire Department shared on social media that three people were aboard the Boeing 757 aircraft when the incident happened.
The plane came to a stop between the runway and a nearby road.
“All three people on the aircraft are accounted for,” the department said.
Emergency crews were called to the Chattanooga Regional Airport just after 11 p.m. after receiving reports of what had happened, officials said.
The jet was reportedly making its final approach when it suffered the landing gear failure. The plane then circled before making the emergency landing, fire officials said.
Smoke began pouring from the engines of the plane, but there wasn’t any fire detected by first responders, the department shared.
“Great work by the pilot and airport personnel, as well as all responding agencies for their coordinated efforts,” the department said.
