Former President Donald Trump’s former White House communications director shared this week that it seems like the GOP nominee has “lost his fighting spirit.”

The remarks from Anthony Scaramucci came in a post to X on Monday, saying it doesn’t seem like Trump wants to debate Vice President Kamala Harris for a second time.

“I thought it was a ruse that he didn’t want to debate by President Harris, but it appears that he’s actually lost his fighting spirit. There is something wrong,” Scaramucci wrote.

Earlier this month, Scaramucci had told CNN that he thought there was a “100%” chance Trump was going to face off on the debate stage with Harris again.

Scaramucci has been an outspoken critic of his former boss, and his latest comments sparked a response from the Trump campaign.

“Nobody is going to listen to someone who barely lasted more time than an expired ham sandwich as White House communications director,” campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung said about Scaramucci and his 10 days spent as the White House communications director.

While Harris accepted an offer for another debate, this time hosted by CNN, the former president appears to be shutting down the challenge. On Saturday, Trump said at a rally that it was “too late” to have another debate despite there being 45 days until Election Day.

“The problem with another debate is that it’s just too late. Voting has already started,” Trump said. “Now she wants to do a debate right before the election with CNN because she’s losing badly.”

Harris posted on X, appearing to call Trump out, saying, “I hope [Donald Trump] will join me.”

Her campaign chair, Jen O’Malley Dillon, also released a statement on the second debate on Saturday, saying Harris was “ready for another opportunity to share a stage with Donald Trump.”

“The American people deserve another opportunity to see Vice President Kamala Harris and Donald Trump debate before they cast their ballots,” O’Malley Dillon said.
