An anthropologist rummaging through a Florida thrift shop last Saturday was given a little scare when they found a human skull sitting amongst the used items, authorities shared.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office shared the news in a press release, noting that the discovery was made in the Halloween section of the store located in the North of Fort Myers.
“Based upon the observations of detectives on scene, the skull is believed to be that of a human,” the sheriff’s office said.
While the sheriff’s office says the case is not suspicious, more testing is expected from the medical examiner’s office.
Authorities shared that the store owner told police the skull had been in a storage unit that was bought years ago.
This isn’t the first time human remains have popped up at a thrift store.
In September, the Associated Press reported that an employee at a Goodwill store in Arizona found a human skull while going through donations.
