The Biden Administration announced that it made a step toward 'inclusiveness' by allowing migrants to choose 'X' as their gender on identity documents.
And WWL's Newell Normand sees nothing but confusion ahead.
"It doesn't align with a lot of the states and it'll create ore friction as it relates to these legal documents and what they actually mean," Normand said.
The change could interfere with how the government vets people as they come into this country and is overwhelmingly political, woke and virtue signaling, according to a former Trump Administration official.
"And that is stating the obvious," Normand said.
USCIS confirmed in a statement to Newsweek that the application has a third option now for gender.
"On April 1, 2024, USCIS published a new edition of Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, which is the first USCIS form to include a third gender option, 'X', defined as 'Another Gender Identity,'" USCIS said in an email to Newsweek. "The X gender option is not currently available on any other forms."
The agency added the "change supports USCIS' commitment to making naturalization accessible to all those who are eligible and, more generally, reducing any barriers to obtaining immigration benefits."
