A 23-year-old woman is faces charges after fleeing from an Illinois State Trooper and leading police on a high-speed chase that reached speeds of 120 miles per hour.
Tianna Bryson, of Sleepy Hollow, has been charged with one felony count of Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding a Police Officer along with multiple misdemeanor and petty traffic offenses, the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office announced.
Prosecutors said on Tuesday afternoon, the trooper clocked Bryson, operating a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta, driving 107 mph in a 60 mph zone westbound on I-88 in Naperville. The officer subsequently pulled over Bryson, but when the trooper walked towards the Jetta, Bryson took off, speeding away in her vehicle.
The trooper attempted to pursue Bryson. Prosecutors described Bryson driving erratically, weaving in and out of traffic, moving at one time to the shoulder of the road, and reaching a peak speed of 120 mph. The trooper unsuccessfully ended the chase out of caution.
But, Bryson did turn herself in to police Tuesday night.
“Thankfully, no innocent motorists or bystanders were injured or worse as a result of Ms. Bryson’s alleged actions. The message is simple, if you hear sirens and see flashing lights behind you, pull over,” DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said.
Bryson appeared in court on Wednesday, with bond set at $25,000. She will be arraigned on April 4.
