Louisiana’s soundbite-loving senator once again took to the internet this week to stir the social media pot in regards to the House’s attempted impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

Sen. John Kennedy knew the Republican-driven impeachment articles were likely a non-starter in the Democrat-led Senate, but he still saw the opportunity to take advantage of the ever-present D.C. spotlight.

“Senate Democrats are silencing the American people, who want their country’s secure border back,” Kennedy said in a video message posted to multiple social media platforms.

Kennedy also spoke to the Senate, urging them to strongly consider the impeachment articles drafted by the House and not toss them out like “a week old tuna sandwich,” adding that they weren’t crafted by “a snow-bro who lives off chicken McNuggets and weed and happens to have an opinion.”

The loquacious Louisiana senator’s please apparently fell on deaf ears though as the Senate rejected the impeachment articles, which accused Mayorkas of willfully refusing to comply with federal immigration law and breaching public trust.

The impeachment had managed to pass in the House by just one vote in February.
