As officers attempted to execute an arrest warrant last Saturday, the suspect attempted to evade arrest by hiding in a dryer, according to documents from the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office in Monroe, La.

These documents said that officers arrived at a Monroe residence to execute a narcotic search warrant and were speaking to a woman in the home when they spotted 18-year-old Chade Johnson. When an officer called out to him, Johnson allegedly refused to come out of the home and “wanted to argue the validity of the warrant.”

Then, as the officer reached for Johnson’s wrist, the teen jerked away, struck the officer with a clinched fist on the side of the face and stepped back into a fighting stance. In response, the officer knocked Johnson to the ground and mounted him on the living room floor.

Authorities were actually searching for 26-year-old Darren Pittman, who they believed was selling narcotics at the Louberta Street home. They eventually found him in a dryer located in the kitchen area of the home, said Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office records. He was immediately arrested for resisting an officer.

Johnson was also arrested on charges of battery of an officer, resisting an officer and obstruction of court orders.

“Johnson put all officers in great danger by interfering and obstructing the process of court orders,” said the sheriff’s office.

Both men were sent to the Ouachita Correctional Center. Pittman’s bond was set at $37,250 and Johnson’s was set at $20,000. Myshella Smith, 19, the woman who answered the door, was also arrested.
