Following the discovery of a missing 18-year-old's body in Miramar, Florida, three teenagers have been arrested in connection to the death, according to local authorities.

Dwight "DJ" Grant was found dead just steps from his home in Miramar on Tuesday, Oct. 19, after being reported missing on Sunday, Oct. 17, Local 10 reported. Florida police say the victim was ambushed and stabbed to death with a knife and sword by another student who was angry the victim had sex with the suspect’s ex-girlfriend.

Miramar police say the 17-year-old boy planned the murder with his current girlfriend and received help from a 16-year-old female friend.

All three of them are facing first-degree murder, tampering with evidence, and criminal conspiracy charges.

The body was discovered when investigators found bloodstains leading them to it. The death was caused by a fight over a girl, leaving Grant caught in a deadly love triangle, Local 10 reported.

Grant, who attended Miramar High School, was attacked, and it was caught on surveillance video, Local 10 reported.

"Surveillance video captured certain aspects of the crime," Miramar Police Department spokesperson Tani Rues told the Sun Sentinel. "It assisted us in the investigation."

However, Rues did not confirm or deny whether or not the footage showed Grant being killed.

The arrested teens appeared in bond court on Sunday morning. Two of the defendants were appointed public defenders, while one girl had a private attorney representing her.

Peter Butlien, the girl's private attorney, spoke about his plan for his client and what they will do to prove her innocence.

"Of course, at this point, we're going to maintain our client's innocence," Butlien said to Local 10. "I'm going to go and speak to her personally, and as this thing is going to play out, we'll take the case to trial if need be, and we'll see what her involvement is, if any, in the case."

While the three teens are not being charged as an adult, they are being held in Broward's Department of Juvenile Justice for 21 days under a judge order.

The next court appearance for the trio will be on Nov. 4.
