Former First Lady Melania is publicly addressing the FBI’s raid of her Mar-a-Lago home in 2022, sharing in a social media post that it should serve as a “warning to all Americans.”
The former first lady shared the video on Saturday morning, saying that she never thought anything like that would ever happen to her.
“I never imagined my privacy would be invaded by the government here in America,” she said in the video.
The video is not the first the former first lady has recently released to promote her upcoming memoir, as last week she also touched on the assassination attempt of her husband, former President Donald Trump.
While presenting the words of the Fourth Amendment with music playing in the background, the video cuts to pictures of the Trumps’ Florida estate as the former first lady offers her criticism for the FBI.
“The FBI raided my home in Florida and searched through my personal belongings. This is not just my story. It serves as a warning to all Americans, a reminder that our freedom and rights must be respected,” she said.
Her memoir, “Melania,” is set to release on Oct. 1, and it is still unknown if the FBI’s raid or the assassination attempt will be featured in the book or if she is just using the moments to help promote it.
While Melania Trump has shied away from offering public comment since her husband left office in 2021, Trump did share that she felt “very violated” after the FBI raided his home in August 2022.
“She felt very violated. I mean, this is a terrible thing,” he said at the time. “They go into her closet, they go through her dresses, and who knows what else, and it wasn’t left the way it — they found it.”
The raid led to 40 charges against Trump related to his alleged mishandling of classified records. However, in July, U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon dismissed the case, ruling that special counsel Jack Smith was not lawfully appointed.
That ruling has been appealed.
