A new report from the Washington Post is claiming a high-powered Republican donor found a way to get money secretly to Virginia “Ginni” Thomas, wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

According to the report, Leonard Leo, a donor who works with a network of nonprofits that promotes the nominations of conservative judges, sent money to Thomas by way of Kellyanne Conway’s firm The Polling Company.

The report says that, in June 2012, Leo wanted to “give” Thomas “another $25K” but wanted the associated paperwork for the donation to have “no mention of Ginni, of course.”

That same day, The Polling Company donated $25,000 to the Judicial Education Project, labeling the money as “Supplement for Constitution Polling and Opinion Consulting.”

So far, no evidence has surfaced of Thomas working for either The Polling Company or the Judicial Education Project.

The Polling Company did pay Thomas’s Liberty Consulting Firm $80,000 between June 2011 and June 2012, according to report.

After the report’s release, Conway defended any payments she made to Thomas during an appearance on Fox News.

“[Thomas] had worked with the Heritage Foundation. She was part of the grassroots, is part of the grassroots. She had worked in the Reagan administration,” Conway said.
“This is a serious person who for years had worked in public policy.

“And at the Polling Company, we did public opinion research and data analytics,” she added. “We had no business before the court.”
