Authorities have reportedly made the first arrest in the investigation into how ten inmates escaped from the jail in New Orleans.
Authorities have arrested Sterling Williams, 33, and booked him into the Plaquemines Parish Jail on one count of malfeasance in office and 10 counts of simple escape.
There have been many questions about if the escapees had help.
"Williams admitted to agents that one of the escapees advised him to turn the water off in the cell where the inmates escaped from. Instead of reporting the inmate, Williams turned the water off as directed allowing the inmates to carry out their scheme to successfully escape," according to a news release from Louisiana Attorney General Murrill.
Video and pictures from the jail show the ten inmates forced a cell door open, pulled a toilet off the wall, broke or cut bars and pipes behind the toilet, made it into a service corridor, and escaped through a loading dock door.
