Two members of Congress came forward last week, alleging there is proof President Joe Biden was involved in a criminal scheme while he served as vice president.
Susan Crabtree, from RealClearPolitics, joined Talk Radio 1210 WPHT’s Rich Zeoli to discuss the joint statement released by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Rep. James Comer (R-KY) regarding the claims.
In the statement, released last week, Grassley said that he and Comer believe the FBI has proof that then-Vice President Biden was involved in a “criminal scheme” with a foreign national.
“We believe the FBI possesses an unclassified internal document that includes very serious and detailed allegations implicating the current President of the United States,” the statement says. “What we don’t know is what, if anything, the FBI has done to verify these claims or investigate further. The FBI’s recent history of botching politically charged investigations demands close congressional oversight.”
Crabtree says that Grassley and Comer addressing the allegations is a significant moment.
“This is the first time that we have had anyone of any prestige at that level talk about Joe Biden being directly implicated,” Crabtree said.
Crabtree also discussed the investigations into Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, highlighting that they have been ongoing since 2018 “when his banks disclosed to the IRS that there were all of these deposits coming in from Chinese sources and other foreign sources.”
While she says investigators are close to bringing charges against Hunter Biden, she also says the president could soon be in hot water.
“This has been a long road that we’ve been on. This is the biggest allegation we’ve had from a member of Congress… against the president himself,” Crabtree said, noting that the response was an “earthquake” in Washington, D.C. last week.
While much remains to be seen, Crabtree says she hopes Grassley and Comer have the document they discussed in their statement because she doesn’t see the DOJ handing it over willingly.
Crabtree also discussed the potential of Biden being ousted as the Democratic party’s 2024 presidential nominee, saying there’s been “talk about that for months now.”
“Whether he stumbles and has to step out of the race in a very strategic moment in the campaign, I think that’s the talk in Washington. Whether this is just all a play to keep him in the race and then have somebody step in because their alternative right now is not great,” Crabtree said. “With Kamala Harris, her poll numbers are terrible with the American people, and I don’t think Democrats want her at the top of the ticket either.”
