Dawn’s Big Three starts right before 10 with the Lindsay Clancy murder mistrial. After an 11-1 deadlock, with most jurors reportedly favoring a not-guilty-by-reason-of-insanity verdict. We hear attorney Kevin Reddington’s postpartum-psychosis argument, his public appeal to President Trump and the obvious legal problem that a president has no pardon authority over a state prosecution. Rooney weighs retrial, plea and dismissal possibilities as the prosecution signals it plans to continue the case.
The second Big Three story turns to Illinois mother Corie Walsh, who is charged with killing her two-year-old son, Barrett, while her lawyer cites a psychotic episode. Prosecutors say Walsh had become heavily invested in the Clancy trial, which pushes us into a hard argument over mental illness, compassion, criminal responsibility and whether these defenses risk becoming normalized. We then circle back to Clancy’s admissions, the lone holdout juror and how prosecutors may approach another trial.
The third Big Three story is HeeHaw, a one-year-old miniature donkey shot by a Georgia police officer during the search for a missing girl.
