A year after finishing in a tie for the league-lead in interceptions, Wentz entered Week 8 with just one interception on the season. However, two late interceptions doomed the Colts, who lost to their division rivals 34-31 in overtime, despite having led 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.

With 1:26 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Wentz and the Colts got the ball back on their own eight-yard line, with a chance to drive down the field for a winning score. Instead, Wentz threw an inexplicable interception, which allowed the Titans to score the go-ahead touchdown:

To his credit, Wentz responded by leading the Colts on a touchdown drive aided by a 38-yard completion to wide receiver Michael Pittman. The drive was capped with a two-yard touchdown run by Jonathan Taylor, with Michael Badgley tying the game on an extra point.

Some pointed out that if Wentz had taken a safety -- either by being sacked in the end zone or taking an intentional grounding penalty -- the Colts probably wouldn't have gotten the ball back. However, it's probably a stretch to think that was why Wentz threw a left-handed interception.

In overtime, the Colts and Titans traded punts, before Wentz was picked off by Kevin Byard attempting to force another pass to Pittman:

After the interception, Randy Bullock ultimately hit the game-winning field goal, as the Titans secured an overtime victory.

With the loss, Wentz and the Colts fall to 3-5. They have now lost both of their matchups with the Titans, who are the overwhelming favorites to win the AFC South with a 6-2 record.

Wentz's former employer -- the Philadelphia Eagles -- acquired a conditional second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft for him, one that will become a first-round pick if he takes either in 75% of the Colts snaps in 2021 or 70% of the snaps coupled with a playoff berth.
