Eagles confirmed to host Cowboys in first game of NFL season

The Eagles’ first stop in their quest for a Super Bowl title defense has been confirmed.

The NFL announced Monday morning that the defending champions will host the rival Cowboys on Thursday, Sept. 4 to begin the 2025 season. As has become custom, the previous year’s Super Bowl champions host the first game of the new campaign, meaning this season will begin in Philadelphia.

The game will kick off at 8:20 p.m. on NBC.

The defending champs have hosted the first game of the season every year since 2004, and those teams have gone 15-5 in those contests, which bodes well for the Eagles and their hopes of beginning the season 1-0.

The Birds owned Dallas in their two matchups last season, with Philly going on the road and trouncing Dallas 34-6 on Nov. 10 before delivering an even bigger beatdown on Dec. 29, a 41-7 dismantling at the Linc.

The rest of the NFL schedule will continue to be released throughout the week.
