The Eagles are making a coaching change, but not one involving Nick Sirianni.

Instead, defensive coordinator Sean Desai, who was stripped of play-calling duties during the season, has been let go by the team, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Desai joined the team last offseason to fill the void left by Jonathan Gannon, who became head coach of the Arizona Cardinals.

He lost play-calling duties to Matt Patricia while the team was 10-3 and coming off back-to-back losses in which the team allowed a combined 75 points.

This move did not seem to fix anything as the Eagles defense allowed 26.75 points-per-game under Patricia (two more than Desai).

Nevertheless, the Eagles defense took a sharp decline this past season, going from second in the NFL in yards allowed to 26th under Desai.

Desai’s departure is hardly surprising as fans await on a final decision regarding Sirianni. But Sirianni remains in place six days after being eliminated in the playoffs by the Tampa Bay Bucs.
