After being doused in trade speculation, longtime Flyers star Claude Giroux has finally found his new home.

According to multiple reports, the 15-year veteran is heading to Florida in a trade with the Panthers. It marks the end of a run in Philadelphia that began way back in 2007, shortly after being the Flyers’ first-round pick in the 2006 NHL Draft.

Florida will send back former top-10 draft pick Owen Tippett in return, a 23-year-old winger who has played 94 career games. In 42 games this season, he has six goals and eight assists. Philly will also be sending Connor Bunnaman, a former fourth-round pick, while getting back a first-round pick in 2024, according to Pierre LeBrun.

Giroux finishes his decorated Flyers career with exactly 900 points in 291 games in exactly 1,000 games played. Always durable, Giroux played 82 games in six different seasons, including three straight from 2016 to 2019.

In what was his final game as a Flyer, Giroux took time to acknowledge the home crowd during Philly’s win over the Predators on Thursday night. It marked the end of the longest-tenured athlete in Philadelphia.
