Jayson Tatum seems disappointed that Evan Turner won't become new head coach of Celtics

According to SportsLine, there are several former players who could potentially take over the Celtics head coaching role after the sudden news that Danny Ainge was stepping down and Brad Stevens would step into his role, leaving a void. Among them are current 76ers assistant Sam Cassell, current Clippers assistant Chauncey Billups and current Lakers assistant Jason Kidd, the only member of that trio with head coaching experience.

Not featured on that list, however, is Evan Turner, despite his current role as an assistant coach for the Celtics. Perhaps the fit would make some sense, but he hasn't exactly been coaching for a long time — this is his first year, in fact — and he immediately took to Twitter to dispel any thoughts that he could or would rapidly rise through the coaching ranks.

Ironically, this exact tweet sparked perhaps more desire for him to become head coach of the Celtics than did any rumors that may have been swirling beforehand. Why, exactly? Because a certain someone seemed to be rather disappointed at Turner's announcement.

The subsequent tweets from the fan base ranged from "HIRE HIM NOW" to "Give JT what he wants!" and everything in between. If that's not an endorsement of how much a fan base values their franchise player, I don't know what is.
