Joe Giglio believes Chase Utley is a Hall Of Famer, but Jimmy Rollins is not.
"Jimmy Rollins has the counting stats," Giglio said on the most recent episode of WIP Daily. "Jimmy Rollins has some markers that says, 'Hmm that's a Hall Of Famer.' His peak, his best, he wasn't as dominant [as Chase Utley]. I know he won an MVP, but he wasn't as dominant for a five year stretch as Chase Utley, historically."
Jimmy Rollins is currently at just 18.6-percent of the public vote in his third-year in his eligibility.
"I think he is just one notch below the Hall Of Fame," Giglio said. "All-time, in terms of the shortstop position, Jimmy Rollins ranks 34th in JAWS—and JAWS is kind of a combination of your peak verse your longevity. He's 34th."
Giglio notes Rollins' career WAR is just 47.6, while the average Hall Of Famer for shortstops all-time is 67.7. Rollins had an on-base percentage of .330 or higher in just six out of his 17 MLB seasons.
Earlier this week, Giglio made the case for Utley to be a Hall Of Famer.
