Philadelphia native and NBA veteran point guard Kyle Lowry announced on Instagram with a video that he is coming home to join the 76ers after being bought out by the Charlotte Hornets.
Lowry, 37, is a six-time All-Star and won the NBA Championship in 2019 as a Toronto Raptor under Nick Nurse, who is the Sixers' first-year head coach.
Lowry played his high school basketball at Cardinal Dougherty in Philadelphia before playing two seasons at Villanova, where he has his number No. 1 jersey retired.
Now in his 19th NBA season, Lowry is at the end of his career and was only averaging 8.2 points, 4.0 assists and 3.5 rebounds in 28 minutes per game for the Miami Heat this season.
Lowry, who is a career 36.8-percent three-point shooter shooting 38.5-percent this season, will provide the Sixers with some bench shooting along with veteran leadership at the backup point guard role.
