An office that bets together, stays together. You’ve probably attended a work Happy Hour before, but what about this?
If you’re wondering the backstory, apparently a handful of employees at NTMR Funding—a mortgage broker based out of Cerritos, California—went in on a prop bet, wagering the Sixers would be the first to 10 points in their game Thursday against Toronto. The NTMR crew had to sweat it out, needing back-to-back hoops from Tobias Harris and Danny Green to get there. It was Green who put them over the top, draining a three to give Philadelphia its first lead with 7:50 remaining in the opening quarter.

It had to have been Tilt City watching the Raptors jump out to a 9-5 advantage, only to squander their head start by missing three in a row including a Gary Trent misfire that had the entire NTMR gang holding its breath. Green didn’t make another shot the rest of the night as the shorthanded Sixers (All-Stars Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons weren’t in uniform) would ultimately fall by a final count of 115-109 in their home gym. But to the thrill-seekers camped out around the office television in Suite 285, his otherwise meaningless first-quarter bucket was an answered prayer.
