The Philadelphia Phillies are unlikely to re-sign starting pitcher Aaron Nola, according to 94WIP's Howard Eskin.

“I’m hearing the Phillies will probably not going to sign Nola and there's multiple reasons for that," Eskin told Hugh Douglas and Joe Giglio on Tuesday's 94WIP Midday Show.

"His number starts at $30 million, but it's not $30 million for three or four years. It's $30 million, probably, for seven years. And somebody out there is going to pay that—$30 million plus for seven years. I'm hearing from inside there, they are not going to do that, they are not going to do that. And Snell is actually, I heard that name yesterday, and that is a possibility."

Nola, 30, has been one of the most reliable pitchers in baseball throughout his nine-year career with the Phillies.

Nola has started 32 games in each of the last three seasons and has recorded at least 20 starts every year except 2020, racking up 1,422.0 inning pitched with a 3.57 career ERA.

Snell, also 30, spent his last three seasons with the Padres. Over that time, Snell is 29-25 in 83 starts with a 3.15 ERA.
