The Philadelphia 76ers have not acquired veteran point guard and Philadelphia native Kyle Lowry, despite multiple reports indicating they were among the biggest suitors, along with the Miami Heat.

The Raptors have curiously decided not to trade Lowry.

Lowry, who turns 35 today, has a $30.5 million cap hit for 2020-21 and is set to become an unrestricted free-agent after the season.

This season, Lowry—considered by many as the greatest Toronto Raptor of all-time—is averaging 17.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 7.5 assists in 34.8 minutes per game over 37 games for the Raptors.

Lowry was one of Sam Hinkie's proudest acquisitions while he was in Houston working under, now current 76ers president Daryl Morey, with the Rockets. Hinkie has spoken about Lowry publicly, as the two of them have a close relationship. Hinkie and Morey acquired Lowry in 2009 in a three-team deal.

Instead of Lowry, the Sixers acquired a different veteran point guard in George Hill from Oklahoma City.

Lowry was the 24th overall pick to the Memphis Grizzlies out of Villanova in 2006. He played for Memphis until 2009 when he was traded to the Rockets. Lowry played from 2009-2012 with the Rockets, before being traded to Toronto where he spent his last eight-plus NBA seasons.
