Saquon thrilled to be an Eagle, says family 'can see a difference in him at home'

Saquon Barkley joined the 94WIP Morning Show

Saquon Barkley is so happy to be a Philadelphia Eagle that his family can notice a difference in him even at home.

"It has definitely been a fresh start for me, that's probably been the biggest blessing," Barkley told the 94WIP Morning Show on Thursday. "I love the way things are run here from top to bottom. I think coach does a really good job of focusing on his players and listening to his players. The city, that practice we had the other—I spoke on it before—but we had an open practice and it was like 50,000 fans. I don't truly know if other places are doing something like that. You can just feel the passion. I know we're talking about golf, if I'm at a golf course—they'll wait 'til after I hit the golf shot, but after I hit the golf shot you'll get a loud, 'Go Birds!' chant. For me it's just fun, the city is full of passion, the fan base is full of passion, and to have a fresh start it's something that I definitely needed, it's something that me and my family definitely needed. My family can see a difference in me even at home, so I'm super excited and thankful from Howie and just thank God for giving me this opportunity."

Barkley, who called in to talk about his Eagles Radiothon item where fans can bid to play a round of golf with him, was also asked about the HBO's Hard Knock series with the Giants where his offseason played out on TV.

"It was a little different. I only watched one episode actually, but social media basically shows everything. I think it was cool, I think they did a really good job. I think if you look at it, take it outside from being a player and actually as a fan of football...I think it was cool and unique to see what really goes on in the office.

"For me, I said before, I think TV magic made it seem like—you would have felt like I was so a part of that whole negotiating process...In reality, I probably only spoke once or twice with them. For me, I'm not taking a shot at the Giants, me and my agent we were like, 'Alright what's next?' We weren't really hearing anything back from the New York and they had all the opportunity in the world before I even hit free-agency to try and get something done. But we never had that feeling they were going to and that ended up being true, so everything that I kind of knew and assumed kind of was just shown, you could say."

Jon Ritchie asked Barkley if he has a message for the fans before the season begins in eight days in Brazil against the Packers.

"I just want the city and the fan base to know, you're going to get a guy who loves ball and is going to give his all every single day."
