Bishop is one of the frontrunners on Season 19 of American Idol as Luke Bryan went on to claim that Bishop should be “the damn winner of American Idol,” earlier in the season.
At the time, Bishop wowed judges with a stunning a cappella version of Mötley Crüe’s song “Live Wire.” She went on to list artists like Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sublime, and Ella Fitzgerald as some of her favorites.
This week, Bishop took the challenge of covering a song by one of Rock’s greatest vocalists, the late Chris Cornell.
Bishop drew looks of amazement from everyone in the crowd as the judges gave her a standing ovation after she performed Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun.”
“I want to know where the extra pair of lungs are on you, because you're holding these notes out to the point of just plain phenomenal,” Lionel Richie told Bishop. “I’m telling you: I love what you do.”
Vocally and technically, it was so A level." Katy Perry said. "It was so precise. I just think from where you started to where you are now, you’re dangerous. And I like it.”
Bishop has advanced to the top 16 and certainly made another strong case as this season’s frontrunner.
