There's maybe no bigger question heading into the 2023 Royals season than how the pitching staff will perform. Filled with first-round talent, the development of this era's pitchers has been a point of frustration with fans for more than a few years now. As a whole, the staff was one of baseball's worst in 2022, a big reason why the front office decided to overhaul the coaching staff this offseason. One of those new hires, pitching coach Brian Sweeney, joined 610's Fescoe In The Morning on Friday to chat about what he's seeing in camp so far.

"They went through some adversity the past couple seasons," he said. "They've taken a punch, they've gotten up from a punch, and now they have a chip on their shoulders and they're ready to throw some punches. It's been exciting to see how eager they are to learn and take the next step in their progression as major leaguers. This spring has really shown me how eager they really are."
