MTVE explained that over 150 brands, nonprofits, and media companies have signed on to participate in the large-scale mental health action movement. NBCUniversal, Univision, Vice Media, the Ad Council, Born This Way Foundation, Ben & Jerry’s, Kate Spade, Kenneth Cole, and GLAAD have all agreed to be involved.

Resources and tool kits will be provided in order to encourage the public to take steps to take care of their mental well-being, while also helping to assist those who are already facing mental health issues.

ViacomCBS has actively been advocating for mental health awareness, particularly as suicide rates and mental health concerns have shot up among teenagers and young adults after a year-long pandemic and lockdown.

MTVE's Vice President of Social Impact Strategy, Erika Soto Lamb shared, “to address the ‘second wave’ of mental health devastation due to COVID-19 we need to move from awareness to action. MTV is proud to convene so many other leaders in driving forward a culture of mental health action, to inspire people to take actions and to normalize the idea that mental health is health.”

At the beginning of the month, MTVE announced their multi-year commitment to mental health advocacy with their “Mental Health is Health “campaign, where the power of storytelling will be utilized across MTVE to destigmatize speaking candidly about mental health.
