(670 The Score) The Bears reset part of their 53-man roster Wednesday after making six additions on the waiver wire.
The Bears waived linebacker Caleb Johnson, cornerback Duke Shelley, offensive lineman Zachary Thomas and defensive lineman Khyiris Tonga, while they released linebacker Joe Thomas. The Bears also placed receiver Tajae Sharpe (undisclosed) on injured reserve, a designation that requires a minimum absence of four games.
Earlier in the day, the Bears were awarded waiver claims on offensive lineman Alex Leatherwood (Raiders), defensive back Josh Blackwell (Eagles), defensive end Kingsley Jonathan (Bills), defensive tackle Armon Watts (Vikings), linebacker Sterling Weatherford (Colts) and tight end Trevon Wesco (Jets).
The Bears then filled 14 of the spots for their 16-man practice squad, all with players who were in the team's training camp. That group was comprised of tight end Chase Allen, defensive lineman Trevon Coley, receiver Isaiah Coulter, defensive lineman Micah Dew-Treadway, offensive lineman Dieter Eiselen, running back Darrynton Evans, linebacker DeMarquis Gates, defensive back Thomas Graham Jr., defensive back Davontae Harris, defensive lineman Sam Kamara, quarterback Nathan Peterman, offensive lineman Lachavious Simmons, defensive back A.J. Thomas and receiver Nsimba Webster.
The Bears still have two spots to fill on their practice squad.
