(670 The Score) When Bears rookie quarterback Justin Fields was growing up in Georgia, he watched then-Falcons star Michael Vick emerge as one of the top players in the NFL.

Now, Fields is a 22-year-old quarterback leading the Bears who sometimes leans on Vick for advice. The two speak regularly, as Fields told the Parkins & Spiegel Show on Friday.

“I had to get his cleats when I was younger,” Fields said on the Parkins & Spiegel Show on Friday. “He’s definitely one of the most electric players that I’ve seen play in my lifetime.

“It’s always great hearing from him and the advice that he gives me.”

Recently, Vick joined the Parkins & Spiegel Show to explain that he wants Fields to use his legs more in an effort to keep the chains moving and keep his offense in favorable situations.

Fields also has a mentor in Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, whom he first came in contact with while he was a top high school prospect in Georgia. Fields was happy to see Newton sign back with the Panthers on Thursday.

“I’m excited for him,” Fields said. “I hope he does well for sure.”

Fields had the best game of his young NFL career Monday in Pittsburgh, throwing for 291 yards and a touchdown in the Bears’ 29-27 loss to the Steelers. Now seven starts into his NFL career, Fields draws motivation in showcasing himself to the world.

“I just like proving people wrong,” Fields said. “I like proving myself right.

“Just my competitive spirit allows me to keep pushing and keep striving to be great every day.”
