(670 The Score) The first taste of competition that Bears rookie cornerback Kyler Gordon experienced as a youngster came in dance, which he excelled in across multiple genres until giving it up around 15 years old.
As he now competes in his first NFL training camp, Gordon reflected fondly on how dance helped pave the path for him to succeed at his position in football.
"The flexibility kind of translates to speed in my hips, and then body control and being able to have good weight transfer, all those things really just come into play with the leaping and all that," Gordon said in an interview with Matt Spiegel and Mark Grote on 670 The Score on Thursday. "I'm just thankful I was able to do that at such a young age."
Gordon is enjoying his first training camp after the Bears selected him in the second round in late April. He projects to be an immediate starter, and he has high expectations for himself off the bat.
"I want to shoot for the highest and embrace whatever records I can, definitely (aim to) be the Defensive Rookie of the Year," Gordon said. "I'm going to try my best to be the best person I can be and to be the best DB that I can in this league. That's really just my goal."
