(670 The Score) When the Bears acquired receiver DJ Moore in their blockbuster trade of the No. 1 overall pick in March, they quickly declared he was their new top target. On Thursday night at FedEx Field, it was easy to see why they made that proclamation.

Moore hauled in eight receptions for 230 yards and three touchdowns as the Bears earned a 40-20 victory over the Commanders. The win snapped Chicago’s franchise-worst 14-game losing streak.

"Tonight, the stars aligned,” Moore told reporters at FedEx Field.

The Bears elected to receive the opening kickoff on Thursday, a coin toss decision that’s rare in the NFL. Quarterback Justin Fields then quickly led a six-play, 75-yard touchdown drive that included a 58-yard strike to Moore on third-and-9. It was capped off when Fields connected with Moore on a 20-yard touchdown pass.

Early in the second quarter, Fields found Moore once again, this time on an 11-yard touchdown in the back corner of the end zone. That helped extend the Bears' lead to 17-0.

Perhaps Moore’s most important play came in the fourth quarter as the Bears held a 30-20 lead. Chicago was missing running backs Khalil Herbert (ankle), Roschon Johnson (concussion) Travis Homer (hamstring) and D’Onta Foreman (inactive), leaving only fullback Khari Blasingame as a ball-carrier.

Facing a third-and-2 with 4:18 remaining, Fields hit Moore on a quick, short strike to the left side, and he ran for a 56-yard touchdown.

Moore’s 230 yards and three touchdowns set new career-highs. He amassed the second-most receiving yards in a game in Bears history, trailing only Alshon Jeffery’s 249 receiving yards during a game in 2013.

Fields went 15-of-29 for 282 yards and four touchdowns. He has thrown for eight touchdowns over the last two games, including four to Moore.
