DJ Moore salutes Caleb Williams after Bears pummel Panthers: 'He's playing lights out'

(670 The Score) Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams and the Bears offense seem to have found their stride.

The Bears undressed the Carolina Panthers at Soldier Field on Sunday, winning 36-10 — one week after a 24-point showing in a win against the Rams. Chicago's offense struggled early this season but has showed progress lately. The Bears' up-tempo pace was working Sunday, and the passing game flourished while lead running back D'Andre Swift wreaked havoc on the ground.

Of course, the awful Panthers aren’t exactly the best measuring stick, so it’s only appropriate for a team like the Bears to smack them. That notwithstanding, it was perhaps the most comfortable Williams has looked in an NFL game so far. He was 20-of-29 for 304 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the air, connecting with top receiver DJ Moore on both scores.

In his weekly appearance on the Mully & Haugh Show on Monday morning, Moore explained how Williams is getting better each week.

“He’s playing lights out week in and week out," said Moore, who had five catches for 105 yards Sunday. "He’s gotten better week in and week out. Seeing different coverages and playing teams that (show) us the same coverage on defense is another thing that he would get used to because it’s like a copycat league. But for him to diagnose defenses and see it on film and see it in live action is something he’s gotten better at. So, I’m glad to see that part.”

There are a lot of new pieces on the Bears' offense, so it probably shouldn’t have come as much of a surprise that it took a few weeks to click. And with another dreadful defense awaiting them Sunday in the Jaguars, the Bears should get another chance to refine their operation against a lower-stakes opponent before facing the Commanders in Week 8 out of the bye.
