LAKE FOREST, Ill. (670 The Score) -- Bears veteran left tackle Jason Peters will return to his starting spot once he's deemed healthy, but it’s unclear how long the ankle injury he suffered Sunday will keep him sidelined.

Peters left during the first quarter of the Bears' 45-30 loss to the Packers at Lambeau Field after having his right ankle rolled up. As of Monday afternoon, the team was still gathering more information on the extent of Peters' injury. Rookie Teven Jenkins, a second-round pick of the Bears last spring, replaced Peters, playing the first offensive snaps at tackle of his NFL career.
Bears coach Matt Nagy indicated the team hasn’t formed its contingency plan should Peters miss more game action. Nagy left open the possibility that Jenkins could move to right tackle and fellow rookie tackle Larry Borom could move from the right side to the left side.
“All of that is probably on the table,” Nagy said.
Jenkins struggled in his first extended NFL action, allowing a pair of sacks to Packers pass rusher Preston Smith while being called for four penalties – two holding flags and two false starts. It marked Jenkins’ second game since returning from back surgery, which he had August.
The 39-year-old Peters, who joined the Bears in August after it was clear that Jenkins' injury was serious, has started all 13 games at left tackle. A fifth-round pick to the Bears, Borom has started six games at right tackle.

In other injury news, Bears rookie quarterback Justin Fields suffered a left hand contusion Sunday, Nagy said. The Bears believe he'll be fine moving forward. Fields underwent X-rays at Lambeau Field following the game.
The Bears will place safety DeAndre Houston-Carson on injured reserve after he suffered a forearm fracture. Houston-Carson will undergo surgery to repair the injury.
The Bears (4-9) host the Vikings (6-7) next Monday night at Soldier Field. The team returns to the practice field Thursday at Halas Hall in preparation for its next game.
