Bernie Sanders has become the latest to chime in on the MLB lockout.
The U.S. Senator from Vermont sent out a tweet on Wednesday afternoon offering his support for the players union and calling for MLB commissioner Rob Manfred to end the lockout.
Sanders, a Democratic Socialist, has built a career on fighting for unions and laborers, so it is no surprise here that he has shown public support for the players.

And while the MLBPA is not your average union, with the lowest salaried players making high six-figures, it could also be argued that the current lockout is a microcosm of the relationship between unions and corporations across the country.
It is not the first time the 80-year-old has weighed in on baseball issues, either, calling out the league last year for cutting 40 minor-league teams.
Sanders’ tweet comes one day after the two sides were unable to reach a deal and Manfred announced that the first two series of the season — essentially the first week — would be canceled and players would not be compensated.
Manfred hopes to return to the negotiating table on Thursday while the MLBPA has expressed a readiness to return at any moment in hopes of hashing out a deal without further loss of regular season games.
