Trevor Story can rest assured that there’s plenty of interest in him.

Now he just needs to figure out what he wants.

Story hit the market as a high-end shortstop option this offseason. The problem for him has been teams’ reported trepidation about his health and the glut of other quality shortstops that are or were on the market.

As a result, the longtime Colorado Rockie is getting offers of all different kinds right now, MLB insider Ken Rosenthal said Monday on “The Athletic Baseball Show" podcast.

“Trevor Story has been considering multiple offers," Rosenthal said. "Some long-term, some short. Some to play shortstop, some to play other positions. His preference is to stay at shortstop, and it would make a lot of sense if he was ultimately the Twins’ guy. He would fit, I don’t see Correa there, he’s just going to be too expensive for the Twins’ liking.”

If he is willing to play at second base, that could open some doors for Story. One would think his ideal is to get a lucrative, long-term deal where he plays shortstop. In order for that to happen, he very well might need to take a one-year deal and try again next offseason, when his top competition will be Trea Turner, maybe Xander Bogaerts and maybe Carlos Correa.

However, if he took the second base route, he could go to a team like the Dodgers, play second this year and replace Turner at short in 2023.

There are a variety of options for Story, which ultimately is a good thing for him. He just needs to figure out what’s most realistic for him.
