The development will sideline the star wideout for Sunday's anticipated matchup against the Chiefs.

His timeframe for return depends on whether he's vaccinated, and, if not, whether he actually tested positive or has merely been identified as a close contact, but he could be in jeopardy of missing the Week 12 contest against the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday Night Football on Thanksgiving.

Cooper, 27, had played in all of the Cowboys' first nine games, providing one of several useful and productive targets for quarterback Dak Prescott. The Alabama product has reeled in 44 catches for 583 yards and 5 touchdowns so far this season.

In Cooper's absence, Prescott will perhaps find more looks for No. 3 wide receiver Michael Gallup, who returned last week from a calf injury that had sidelined him since his mid-game exit in the season opener against the Buccaneers in Tampa. As well, second-year breakout star CeeDee Lamb could see some extra attention from defenses that don't have to honor Cooper's presence.

The Chiefs opened as small home favorites against the Cowboys on Sunday. Kickoff was set for 3:25 p.m. CT.
